WEBNC Certification

The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) supports Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs) by providing one of the most recognized certifications in business. Not only is the non-profit organization’s certification the standard in the private sector, they also provide a myriad of tools to help WBE’s achieve success.

The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) grants a certification to minority-owned enterprises (MBE). MBE’s certified through this program go on to secure contracts with large corporations as well as receive MBE certification through city, county or state programs. Many of these companies see an increase in revenues through the certification and the ability to procure government and corporate contracts.

Women Business Enterprise Certification can be gained through non-profit groups such as the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). This group not only provides the certification, they serve as a key connector between WBE’s and large corporations and government entities.

DBE Certification

The U.S. Department of Transportation provides opportunities for minorities or women-owned businesses, or other socially and economically disadvantaged individuals through the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Certification program. Participating companies must work with an individual state to gain certification. The certification allows companies access to contracts with state and national transportation departments.

To support veteran-owned businesses, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Concerns (SDVOSBC) was established. Through this program, businesses can be certified to compete among other veteran-owned firms to compete for sole source or set-aside contracts.

The SBA established the Mentor-Protege program to allow businesses to learn from experienced government contractors. The program can last for up to six years and qualified businesses can gain guidance on a variety of business functions as well as develop joint ventures to qualify for government set-aside contracts.
